    all abuzz about rachel

My body is still buzzing from the weekend workshop with Rachel. I adore these weekend immersions, body emerging with new sensations, working out new moves and variations on old favourites. Rachel is a great teacher and an endearing individual.

And then there was the show on Saturday night at Crush. Oh lucky Ala Nar debuting a new fan piece and billed second on the program.....immediately after Rachel's opening solo. Ummmm, no pressure. So, the bad news is that one of my fans broke. The good news is that it broke just before we went onstage. The bad news is that it broke 5 minutes before our call. The good news is that I was the keeper of the extra fans and had brought the box of fans to the gig. The bad news is that Michelle had lost both of her fans but the good news was that she was able to colour two new ones before we danced (we coloured the backs of the white spines so there wasn’t a distinct back and front to the fans – easier for dancing). The bad news is that we didn’t colour any other extra fans. As my fan broke, Leona took one look at my face, grabbed my new fan and the red pen and started colouring. I ran and asked Martina for "2 extra minutes, please!" Then I opened and closed that new fan as many times as I could before we went on stage. I managed to get my “3 fan misfortune” out of the way before the performance …… literally moments before ;-). So….. no one dropped a fan, no one stabbed another dancer with a fan, no fans broke on stage. We had a blast. The show was incredible. I want more.

And a special thank you to Amanda.
