Thanks to Martina for a wonderful Hafla at Felicios last night. The line up of dancers was fabulous and the food was delicious. Or was it that the food was fabulous and the dancers.....

Ala Nar had great fun improvising a choreographed troupe piece amongst tables - ha. I think that one table got a little bored with having our vibrating tooshes right infront of them for half the dance, but oh, such was their luck ;-). All good experience and even though the choreography lost some of its punch, it still felt pretty darn hot, ssssss.

The gentle fog that has protected us for almost a week now appears to be slowly retreating. I will miss the quiet presence of the fog, the muted colours and shimmering lights that it inspires, the beauty of hidden mystery that it brings. "Wait," I want to call out as this cold cloak furls back in upon itself.

I am tickled to announce the next session of beginner bellydance classes at Yoga on 7th in Vancouver. The next session starts January 12, 2006. Classes are on thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and run for 10 weeks.

The Vancouver bellydance scene is aflutter with the anticipation of the Bellydance Superstars returning to our gentle wet city in January. We can't wait to see the girls of glam light up the stage again. Some of us really can't wait and have purchased the BDSS's latest dvd of their Folies Bergere performance in Paris. You will not regret this purchase.

In the midst of the BDSS excitement there is something even more wonderful to anticipate. Yousry and Nourhan Sharif will be in Calgary February 17, 18 & 19 offering a workshop, dinner and show. So okay, Calgary, you say. Do not let this stop you. I attended Yousry's workshop in Vancouver three years ago and it was a turning point in my appreciation for and understanding of the dance form. His knowledge, energy and presence are not to be missed. Start looking for cheap flights.

Bellydance Super Stars

Bellydance Super Stars return to Vancouver and this time there are 2 shows! Ala Nar have bought tickets to both shows and they are going fast. January 27th and 28th at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond.

Jillina and Sharon Kihara will be offering workshops - details to be posted.
